As the heat of summer begins to fade and September begins, we're in search of safe things to do in New York City that will allow us to enjoy the end of this season. Though many indoor activities are still restricted, New York has entered phase four — which means some zoos, botanical gardens and museums have reopened for the public to enjoy. So grab your mask and go explore all that the city has to offer. 

So, you’re stuck in quarantine and suddenly you seem to have a lot more free time on your hands. It’s easy in this situation to proclaim yourself bored and turn to Netflix or napping, but there are more positive ways to pass the time that are actually fun. Check out our recommendations below.

Introducing Koko Ramen , our favorite place to get authentic Japanese ramen in Brooklyn, just a short walk from our Flatbush House . Koko has an unassuming exterior, like most of New York City’s gems: Its plastic red door and wooden panelled walls only hint at the magic inside. A yellow sign floating on the roof with a bowl of steaming ramen stencilled on it is your only indication to step inside: Ramen will follow.  

Maybe you stopped by Arepera Guacuco because you smelled the fresh empanadas and arepas wafting into the street, or maybe you’ve walked past it a million times on your way home to our Bed-Stuy House but never been inside. Either way, now is the time to try our new favorite Bed-Stuy spot.

Dun-Well Donuts is our favorite place to satisfy our sweet tooth in East Williamsburg. Located on Montrose Avenue, just around the corner from the Montrose L stop and our East Williamsburg House , this cafe is doughnut and coffee heaven with a conscience.
