Whether you like a long steamy shower or a healthy homemade dinner, there isn't one right way to self-care. It's a time devoted to you, your mental health and physical wellbeing that is just as essential as that scheduled work call and weekly grocery store trip. While we're all for a luxurious face mask and home spa, self-care should also include daily habits that give you time to unwind. Here are a few ways you can practice self-care every day!
Sometimes we move at warp-speed, rarely taking the time to sit down and process our thoughts. Journaling can help you get in touch with your emotions, act as an outlet and provides a way to track progress.
Cleaning might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of self-care, but having an organized space can make the rest of your day feel far more manageable. Put away your laundry, clear out the accumulated glasses and light a candle. Rather than causing you stress, your space can become a sanctuary where you can relax and unwind.
Spending time in nature and soaking up some sunshine is a foolproof way to fit self-care into your day. Whether you're biking to work, getting some exercise or reading a book, getting outside can help you clear your head and get some much-needed Vitamin D!
Whether you prefer motivational books or fiction, reading can inspire you and give you time away from your overflowing to-do list. Relax with a cup of tea or coffee and read a chapter every day (or more if you're a true book worm).
It can be hard to focus on yourself while scrolling endlessly through Instagram. Take some time each day to disconnect from social media and spend that time doing one of these self-care tasks without the distraction of a Twitter notification.
Even if you only have fifteen minutes to spare, doing a quick yoga flow or going on a walk can clear your head and allow you time to yourself. Jam out to your favorite playlist, focus on your breathing and tune into your body.
